Leicester have recently won their appeal against a possible points deduction for PSR breaches, to their relief. Under the rules, clubs cannot lose more than £105m over a three-season period, and Leicester were in breach.
However, this case hinged on the Premier League’s jurisdiction to challenge them in the first place. The panel found that they did not have jurisdiction, as Leicester had been relegated to the Championship at this time when the accounting period ended – and thus out of the command of the Premier League.
This has ensured fairness and so the rules are followed correctly. Leicester City can now focus their attention on staying in the Premier League.
